Inaugural OBX Marathon Highlights

Soundwavz is very excited to have been a sponsor for the Inaugural OBX® Marathon, which took place Sunday, Nov 12, 2006. Over 4,400 runners entered the event, and Soundwavz was there to capture all the action. To commemorate this inaugural event, we have created a brief 5 minute highlight reel, showcasing the highlights and detailing the background of the marathon. Be sure to visit www.obxmarathon.org for information on next year's race.

Wedding Memories to Cherish for a Lifetime

Every bride and groom have a unique love story to tell. At Soundwavz Digital Films, weddings are not something we do on the side, they are our specialty. We work closely with each client to create a film that tells that story, in way that is uniquely theirs. Of course, as the name implies, Soundwavz Digital Films shoots in 100% digital High Defintion, creating a heirloom that will truly stand the test of time - with the look of film, and the excellent quality of digital.

Chris & Kristi at the Sanderling Inn

Chris and Kristi recently enjoyed a gorgeous wedding ceremony and reception at the beautiful Sanderling Inn, in Duck, NC. Featured here is a snippet that was put together from their wedding film highlighting moments from the ceremony and on the beach. This footage was shot in 720p 24 frames per second digital. The preview file is reduced for quicker loading, but you can download a higher definition version (still compressed) here. Please be patient, the file is quite large, and will take some time to download.

High Defintion Format

Our preferred method for event production is to record in the High Definition format 720p, at 24 fps. 720p is the High Definition format chosen by Fox, ABC, ESPN and others, and is the most widely available native resolution that has been sold in High Definition TVs to date. 720p is about 6 times the resolution of standard defintion television.

We also have the ability to record in standard defintion, with output to DV or DVCPRO-50, and can also shoot High Def with the 'video' look at 720/30p/60p, 1080i and more.

Julie & Phil

Julie & Phil opted for the pre-wedding interview and shared the story of how they met. Bonus for us, they also shared their reasons for wanted a wedding film, and why they chose a Soundwavz HD wedding film.

Viewing in HD

So, how can you view your production in HD? As of this moment, there are a couple methods. We can burn an HD-DVD format DVD, which can be played on most HD-DVD players. If you have a an Apple G5 iMac or better, you can view HD-DVD on DVD on your computer. Currently we can not burn Blu-Ray DVD, however; Apple is expected to ship an update to our editing software, Final Cut Pro, in early 2007 that will allow us to burn Blu-Ray DVDs. Just as in the times of VHS vs. Betamax, we're in another fomat war, waiting to see who will win out between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Soundwavz will support both formats as they become available until there is a winner. At the present time, all productions are being shipped on standard DVD or whatever broadcast format is required.
